IrionDQ utilizes a wide range of methods to connect to data sources.   The platforms ‘Datalinks’ engine supports connectivity to relational databases as well as various file structures.  IrionDQ supports automated retrieval of data and a powerful integration engine that takes full advantage of database servers capabilities.  This design allows for fast processing and the elimination or reduction of intermidiary data storage and therefore reduces project overhead and ongoing maintenance. 

Performances and the ability to handle large volumes of data are among the main drivers that have guided the design of IrionDQ.

IrionDQ supports ODBC, OLEDB, and ADO.NET thus enabling connectivity to all major database platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server ®, Oracle ®, Teradata®, Sybase® or IBM DB2 ® as well as popular desktop applications such as MS Access ®  and MS Excel®.

The built in Excel® data engine, can be used as a simple data connection source or extended to allow IrionDQ to send data to this powerful application and return the results to the program.  This flexibility will allow users to leverage built-in, developed or third party functionality in Excel without the need to launch the Excel application separately. 

The flexibility of IrionDQ is extended with the use of custom adapters that allow the system to read any file format that may contain fixed fields, delimited, VSAM, XML, SWIFT Messages, FpML, or unstructured files such as print out files or output from legacy systems that can be in a variety of formats. Character sets can be any ASCII, Unicode or EBCDIC with packed-decimal.

In addition, IrionDQ adapters are available to easily access specialized data sources.
